You are invited to attend this exciting weekend contra dance camp, November 12th, 13th, and 14th 2004, at Sky Camp near Eugene, OR. Camp will start Friday evening with registration and a contra dance, followed by workshops and more dances the entire weekend. Wild Asparagus, from New England, is one of the country’s pre-eminent contra dance bands. They are known for their colorful, dynamic, rhythmic dance music with many stylistic influences. George Marshall is known for his warm personality and clear teaching and calling. Fiddler Paul Anastasio and guitarist Ray Woods hail from Seattle and they are known far and wide for their enormous repertoire of tunes and tempos and silky smooth style. And do those boys love to jam! Burke Selbst and Amy Royce will return with more of their smooth swing instruction. Annie Johnston, the Northwest’s favorite camp cook, will prepare fresh and delectable meals from Friday night snack to Sunday lunch. This year the camp will be part of the Danceable Feast 2004 Tour, which will include Wild Asparagus dances in Portland, Corvallis and Eugene before and after the weekend. See your local dance calendars for dates. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis by postmark starting Monday, September 13, 2004 (those postmarked earlier will not be accepted). If more applicants are received than we have room at camp, we will hold a lottery of the first day postmarks to fill camp and determine positions on a waiting list. Camp will be gender balanced.
